Roof construction considerations

Everyone knows that a roof never leaks when it’s not raining, but when it begins to rain, the wind comes up, hail starts falling then; if your roof is not secure you will need to call a roofer that offers emergency weather services to at least do something, even if it’s temporary, to keep the house reasonably dry.

In many cases a house needs roof repair and maintenance because of the design; it is at this stage that many problems in the future can be short-circuited. A roof design consists of three basic elements; the materials used for the roof, the construction and the overall cost-effectiveness and durability of the roof for the area in which it is installed. It is these three primary issues that must be considered when deciding on the type of roof that will be installed on the building.

In every area of the country the weather is different; anything from hurricane force winds, to deep snow to searing heat and companies that offer emergency weather services for roof repair are well equipped for the area. It is very important that the roof design, materials, etc are chosen to compliment the normal weather patterns that can be expected where the house is located. Let’s face it; a traditional thatched roof that might be great on a tropical island is not going to be of much use in most parts of the US.

It is not just the materials that have to be considered when planning a roof around the prevailing weather conditions. In some areas of the country that experience a great deal of rain, a steep pitched roof may be the better choice because this roof type tends to shed water faster and better than does a low pitched roof. In other areas of the country where high winds are a constant threat, a low pitched roof is often the better choice as this type of roof is better suited to combat gale-force winds.

The final design criteria are durability as well as overall aesthetics. Emergency weather services are far less likely to be needed where the roof on the house has been built with durability in mind. Although a cedar shake roof is lovely to look at, the comparatively low cost metal roof that can come quite close to duplicating the aesthetics is finding itself in favor as it is more durable and less likely to need emergency weather services for repair.

Emergency weather services are often required when a roof fails during any inclement weather and the interior of the home is being inundated with water. If you find yourself with this problem you are invited to contact StormForce of Jacksonville.
