One of the tasks that you probably do during the holiday season is putting lights on your Christmas tree unless you get a tree that already has lights on the branches. Here are a few tips that you can use to light your tree so that it shines bright for the holidays.

Number of Lights

The first thing to do is determine how many Christmas tree lights you’re going to need on your tree. If you have a tree that’s four feet or smaller, then you can probably get by with one long strand of 100 lights. A tree that’s taller than this will usually require at least two strands of 100 lights so that you have a balanced look and so that there are no bare spots between the branches. It is recommended to use at least 100 lights per foot of the tree.

Bulbs

When you’re looking at Christmas tree lights, you need to figure out what kind you want to use. You don’t want to mix incandescent lights with LED lights. Although incandescent lights give the old-fashioned look, they tend to use more power and can become warm to the touch compared to LED lights. You also want to check all of the lights that you’re going to use to make sure they work before putting them on the tree. If there is a bulb that’s bad, you can usually replace it so that the strand works again instead of tossing the lights in the trash.

Weaving

Begin putting the lights on your tree by placing them on the bottom branches first. Weave the lights between the branches until you get to the top of the tree, repositioning the lights as you go so that they are even. Learn more about putting lights on your tree by contacting The Christmas Palace.
