An animal hospital in Los Angeles will provide a variety of services and treatments for dogs and cats. It also offers evening hours on weekdays.

What Are Some of the Services Provided?

The animal hospital can provide such services as nutritional guidance and geriatric care. It offers preventative care like vaccinations and will microchip pets. It has state-of-the-art equipment that enables the vet to perform complex surgeries and comprehensive exams. It also has a convenient on-site pharmacy.

What Is Cherry Eye?

Cherry eye is a disorder affecting the nictitating membrane. While it is most common in young dogs, it can occasionally develop in cats. Affected animals develop a fleshy red round mass in the corner of their eye. Cherry eye also affects tear production. Untreated cherry eye can cause complications like dry eye syndrome. Most patients will need surgery.

What Is TPLO?

TPLO stands for Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy, and it is a type of orthopedic surgery done on dogs, particularly large dogs or those with severe degeneration of the knee joints. The vet will perform TPLO to repair a torn cranial cruciate ligament (CCL), which is analogous to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in humans. A torn CCL is painful and limits the dog’s mobility. If untreated, it can lead to degeneration of the knee joint and cause chronic arthritis. Repairing the torn CCL, however, will stabilize the knee joint, prevent joint problems, and restore the dog’s mobility.
