You may not believe that it’s important to get a receipt after you have paid your rent, whether you have paid for your home or commercial property. You may have sent the payment via your bank, online or paid by check. You may not easily be able to prove that you have paid if you do not receive an effective receipt. You should always encourage your landlord to provide a money rent receipt book, so you have proof of your payment. Whether they choose to declare receiving the payment to the tax authorities is not your problem initially, but proving you have paid might be.

Should problems arise later, producing a set of perfect receipts is the ideal way in which you can prove that you pay the correct amount by the due date every month.

You might need to prove this information to your local or state authorities when you are trying to claim funds because you do not earn enough and look for a rebate.

Renting commercial premises means that the receipt will be required by your accountant or the tax authority to be able to prove that your business or self-employed accounts are correct and easily verifiable.

Although it is the law that you should receive a receipt after paying rent, you can protect yourself with the use of the money rent receipt book to prevent some landlords charging late fees or suggest they may be able to evict you because you pay late, when you can prove that you pay on time.
